Sunday 8th September 1996 was a day of celebration throughout Italy and for all Ferrari supporters worldwide.  A superb victory by Michael Schumacher at their home Grand Prix confirmed that the Ferrari F1 team were at last becoming future Formula 1 world championship contenders and gave notice that 1997 could be the year of the Prancing Horse.
